one creature - a predatory wasp

haunts Darwin, and plays into his religious doubts.

The wasp stings and paralyzes caterpillars, and then stuffs the still living prey into its nest, for hatchin larvae to feed upon.

Why would such a loving God design such a creature? he thinks
